I really liked the clip about southern dialect. When I began reading the book that was the first thing I noticed and then, as you said, I learned how smart Savannah was and no longer cared. I love that you tackled that in your book.

Cheryl, Congratulations
After I "selected" a best one IMHO, then a next one grabbed me more. This was tough, but enjoyable.
1 My top is advice to young writers. This has a universal appeal.
2 My 2nd is when you talk about Savannah, the 2nd one. You voice is strongest & most animated then.
3. My 3rd is when you talk about her difficulty with breathing & asthma.
BUT I was also intrigued with the one about Southern dialect, although I think that focus is narrow, but unique.
Good Luck with this launch!
Jan

I really enjoyed how you talked about Savannah's asthma. I have asthma as well and I haven't read that many books that deal with it.
I really liked your video on southern accents. Again, I haven't read a lot of books that take place in the south (but I actually find myself enjoying them quite a bit!) and I thought it was very interesting.
Loved your advice to inspiring, young writers. Nice info.

I liked the clip about the dialect and also liked the one about Savanah's dream.
I posted a link to the contest on twitter: http://twitter.com/justJoanS (and it was my 100th tweet that deserves an extra entry, right? *wink*)
I also posted links to the contest AND to the Q&A on my blogs: http://authorwithin.livejournal.com/59077.html and http://authorwithin.blogspot.com/2009/12/it-time.html

I love your video clips, but I did want to let you know that one about Jackson would not open for me. My favorite is the one where you describe your main character. I love getting to know my characters as I write them and think this is such an interesting part of the process.
While your writing process sounds wonderful, I would probably fall asleep (!) in that setting and find that I write best at my computer. Good luck to you on your book and to me on this contest!

Thank you for your comments and for letting me know about the clip that wouldn't open. I'll look into that. Thanks for your good luck wishes and same to you!

I really liked the video where you talk about Savannah. She definitely came across to me as a hopeful romantic.

I tried to comment on the youtube video, but youtube wouldn't let me. Oh well, 3 out of 4 isn't too bad.
Thanks for the awesome contest!

Cheryl, I am taking this to Facebook of course, but I wanted to tell you about RAW INcK (Reading and Writing in Kentuckiana. This is a small Ning site that I operate with my students in Southern Indiana. Since Pam Bachorz, Jennifer Brown, and Jon Skovron are already members, I thought I would share the site with you. I will point my students to the contest, but I would tell you that for us, the introduction to the book and what it is about is the best for us. We review new books and link our reviews to our local Indie Bound bookseller, Destinations Booksellers. I am always looking for new titles to promote on the site and this one looks like it would be of high interest to my students. Our URL is rawinck.ning.com if you want to check out what we are doing.

My favorite video: Probably hearing you read about Jackson and Savannah's meeting at the beach. I always like hearing authors read from their work, and that was a scene I'd really enjoyed in the book.

I enjoyed all of the video clips. My favorite was the overall book summary since that introduced Savannah & her story in a way that makes me eager to read Breathing. Love the idea of a "hopeful" rather than a "hopeless" romantic. I also like the video in which you discuss the origin of Savannah's breathing challenges in a bit more detail.
I commented on the book summary video on YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bW1xqxEHHTc&feature=related, and I tweeted about your contest (@CommonplaceBook). Thank you for hosting such a generous book giveaway!
