Friday Five: Cheryl's Guide to Making Your Dreams Come True
One of my main identities in life is The Dreamer. I love dreaming up a goal and then working to attain it. It might not always be easy, but it is always worth it! So here's my quick guide to how it's done:
1. Dream big. Don't settle for a little dream. Dream up the biggest, most exciting dream you can. The passion you have for the wild, crazy dream will carry you far when the going gets tough.
2. Act small. Baby steps. You can't take giant leaps on that path, because you'll miss too many important little ones along the way. If you're willing to buckle down and do the work, step by step, you'll get there.
3. Ignore the naysayers. There will always be people along your road telling you you're being unrealistic, that you'll never make it, that it's hopeless, that you're a dreamer. Ignore them -- except for that last bit -- own the dreamer title with pride!
4. Embrace the obstacles. There will be many. I don't say that to scare you off, it's just how it works. But if you let the obstacles stop you, or worse - the fear of the obstacles- you won't make it. Try to remember that often times the obstacles are PART of the path. They're leading you toward the ultimate goal, maybe not in the direction you thought you wanted, but they will guide you nonetheless.
5. Trust your crazy ideas. They're usually the best ones, the ones that come from someplace else, from some intuitive knowing, from thinking outside the box. If you hear yourself saying, "Nah, I can't try that, that's too crazy," you can be sure you're on the right track!
That's it -- Dreams Come True in just 5 easy steps =D
Have a great weekend and happy dreaming!
