Quick Friday Five: Trips, Blogs, & Books

1. A quick post today as I am off to Chicago this morning! I will be presenting a writing workshop with JT Dutton (author of Freaked and Stranded) and James Kennedy (author of The Order of Odd-Fish) Saturday at 7:30 pm at The Book Cellar. So if you're in the Chicago area, come hang out with us!!

2. I'm also blogging today at YA Outside the Lines today, talking about the difference between lucky and unlucky people, which, surprise surprise, comes back to a favorite topic of mine: following your heart

3. Yesterday was Rock The Drop Aka Teen Lit Day. My debut novel, Breathing, was published on Teen Lit Day in 2009, so I always make sure to participate. Did you spot any participants around town?

4. Straight from the weekend in Chicago, we're heading to Florida to see family and then on to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter! Yes, I was there in November while at NCTE with author-friend Erin Dionne. But now I'm going with my husband and kids. I couldn't possibly take my kids to Florida and not take them to Harry Potter world! Right? It's for them! Really!

5. Finally, I've been working on my short story for the anthology being written by the 2009 Debs. It's all about firsts. You know how I love stories about firsts -- first love, first kisses, first ... I'm not telling which first my short story is about, though. You'll have to wait and see. But I'm having such fun writing it!

Have a great weekend
